Gifting Purposefully

Welcome to Gifting Purposefully, a series exploring our recommendations for giving intentionally. This week: we view gift-giving as a gift itself.

It’s been said that giving gifts is an a complex significant part of human interaction, that helps to define relationships and strengthen bonds with acquaintances, family and friends. Indeed, psychologists say it is often the giver, rather than the recipient, who reaps the biggest psychological gains from a gift..

And we totally agree, as we see this played everyday in our interactions with both the “gifter“ and the recipient. From when the “gifter” walks into one of our stores, or places a call all anxious about what to buy, what to put together to bring a smile to the recipients face.

The thought put into the buying of the gift, the payment for the gift, the composition of the accompanying message are all a part of exercising a positive human trait which in turn gives the “gifter” a sense of accomplishment.

Especially when the gift is received and warmly acknowledged.

At that moment, there is a transfer of joy, which reinforces the circle of life. Firstly joy is initiated in the recipient who receives the gift and is happy to know someone cares, and then joy is repurposed and transferred to the ”gifter” who is happy to have done a good thing.

Do you find joy in gifting? Do let us know.
